Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) & Wrestling in Kemah, TX
A 144-skill Gi and No-Gi belt curriculum plus takedowns, scrambles and top control.
TruJitzu is our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program — a 144-skill Gi and No-Gi belt curriculum that takes you from your first grip to your first stripe and well beyond — paired with a serious wrestling program built on takedowns, scrambles and top control. Together they form the grappling core of Tru Bloodline in Kemah, TX.
A BJJ class with Coach Steve typically opens with a focused warm-up and a technique of the day — a position, submission or escape — drilled with a cooperative partner until the mechanics are clean. From there you move into live rolling, where you test the technique against resistance at a pace you control. The belt curriculum gives every student a clear path forward, so you always know what you are working toward and what comes next. No-Gi classes drop the kimono for a faster, slipperier game that translates directly to MMA.
Wrestling classes build the base that decides where every fight happens. You will learn level changes, singles and doubles, chain wrestling and scrambles, plus the weight training that makes them stick. Wrestling Wednesdays and live rolling rounds let you pressure-test what you learn against training partners who match your level.
Beginners should expect a patient, technical room. Show up in workout clothes — a gi is not required for your first class — and bring water. You will tap early and often, and that is exactly how you learn. Grappling is humbling, but it is also the fastest path to real self-defense confidence.
Our grappling program is coached in a room grounded in Christian values — discipline, respect and care for the person across from you. Members get 24/7 gym access, so the mats are open when your schedule is. Book a free class and start building your ground game in Kemah.
